I use a lot of moth balls and crystals in mine not sure it works all that well but it sure don't hurt.

Dryer sheets. They have a much more acceptable smell and work just as good as moth balls.

Congratulations on your purchase. You made a wise choice. Before trying to drive off mice with dryer sheets or mothballs, spend some time cleaning everywhere there is crop residue or other food sources. Clean inside the consoles and other areas that attract mice. Remember, you cant drive them away from an inviting source of food and shelter; you can only make your combine less inviting to them.

I always remove the cab filters before I store it for the winter. I didn't one year and mice got into one and chewed it up pretty good.

I have an R60 so any advice I could offer might not apply to an R52. I would suggest asking about setup in a new post and you should get a lot of good help from the guys here. They sure did help me improve performance of the R60.

You could check out a couple things and let us know a little about your crops and conditions. Maybe start a new post like Tom suggests. I would include info like: Do you ever expect to pick a rock and or how often, what do you have for thresher concaves (hi wide wire front and rear or low narrow wire front),second helical extended across feeder opening on that small P3 yet, full set of wide rasp (3_4") all forward cylinder bars, any wires removed from seperator grate if it is the low narrow wire, any cylinder bars extended into area just ahead of discharge opening, any helicals extended into discharge to complement any cylinder bars that may be extended,IJIJIJ let us know what you got and how far you want to go. You may want to do just a couple more basic things or get more involved. Machine could also fit your operation fine set up just the way it is. Good luck

I went from a K2 to a R42 with a few learning experiences, but they are simple and and easy to set and work on. I only did the header hose mod and plugged the holes in the cage where the wires were removed, just these two things really improved my R42. This website has also been a great help. Hope you enjoy your R52 as much as I enjoy my R42.
