The only trouble we have ever had with the lucke pans are them coming loose on us,,,we solved this by welding small flat irons at the back of the pan and attached to the next pan,,,,in sections of 2,3 and 4 pans,,so you can still take off a section to work on the cutting bar..Thats about it,,nothing really to go wrong with them,,,Oh also we took small washing machine bearings and put them on small bolts and welded those to the front of the pans at the tip to prevent the sunflowers from getting knocked over as the pans went through the crop. They help slide the stalk around the tip and into the knife.

Do you use the lucke pans with any type of reel on your headerIJ Most other brands have some type of reel to push the heads back to auger.

We don't use any type of reel,,as we have found the reels tend to just rip off the heads and leave alot of "spears" out in the field,,,,we just remove the exsisting reel off of the head and put the pans on,,,,we have bought a second head to do sunflowers so there is no switching back and forth,,,you can usually find good used heads that are in good enough shape for doing sunflowers. Hope this helps some

deerdriver......do you ever have any trouble with the flowers feeding because of no reelIJ like I said, I just got a set last year and did find that under tough conditions.....damp from due, fog, etc., the flowers would not want to feed so great where if you had a reel under those conditions it would help. I realize one should not be out there in those conditions, but sometimes have no choice Thanks.

We usually do our sunflowers in the cold of winter,,sometimes we get lucky and do them late fall,,,but we do have some feeding problems when it gets damp out,,,,but usually we leave them for a later date ,,we have done flowers in Jan Feb and March,,,temps usually down around minus 15 celcius or colder

lucke's phone is 800-735-5848, they said they have made them for macdon drapers before, and the loose seeds get under the belt and cause it to start slipping, sounded like he wasn't interested in putting them on a 936D either.
