Combines Sunflower pan manufacturers

Have been using lucke pans for about 15 years on 1460, 1480 and 1688 combines on 24 and 30 foot heads. Remove reel and use a Faul bar made by Faul manufacturing in Harvey, ND. This is just somewhat of a quick attach bar that the pans mount on, with chains that hold it on combine. System has worked very well, and have never tried anything else.

Check on Conveyall in Winkler Manitoba - I believe they manufacture stuff like this.

I bought my pans and drum from seedeater mfg out of jamestown, nd, 9" pans and drum for a 27' gleaner head, the reason I went with 9" pans is we run into alot of solid seeded flowers, with 9" pans you can cut rows or solid seeded, a drum I would recommend , especially if you run into short flowers, hope this helps, scott.

I have used pan's without the drum and it work's fine. I found that using the drum before, the ground speed is to slow as I have a TR 98. I did try to use my straight cut header without pan's last year( 2004 crop ) and I found that it worked just as good if not better than using pan's. I did take the pick-up reel off and made a small reel to keep the sunflower's from going foward with the combine. I hope this help's and if you need anymore info I'll be pleased to help you. Kurt

Sorry I forget your name but I know you are the brother who stays home. Brent and Shawn have helped me out over the years. Anyway I will try and answer some of your questions about sunflower pans. First I have never owned lucke Mfg. system I have been around and watched them work it seemed that the operators would have to back up and sometimes run into the flowers to get them to feed in. Also if the plants were at all leaning the combines had to cut them at an angle but that didn't seem to pose to much of a problem. We have a "Seed Eater" system with 9 inch pans and the drum it works really well and our guy solid seeds some and does some in rows it worked well in either operation. One problem we had was if you were putting the system on a header with bat reels no problems everything would fit on the drum for your reel drive but as we found out if you are going to put the drum onto a head with finger reels it would take some major modifications to make the reel drive fit on the drum. I found a good old 30 foot 810 header and now have them permantly mounted on that. Seed Eater is made in Jamestown ND I guess you know that as for your speed question when I was watching the combine with lucke pans they would travel faster then mine with the Seed Eater system but like I said they spent a lot of time backing up because stalks would get hung up on the end divider. So I think the amount of acres you would do in a day would be the same with either system. The lucke system is quite a bit cheaper in price because they don't have a drum and I am not sure but do they still bolt on to the guards somehow. Seed Eater is a quick attach system once you have it mounted for the first time and it is a more solid unit then lucke. As for Bonco pans I don't think they are no longer in business. Tell Brent Hi. I have had both types....with and without drum. I have the lucke now. It is the simplest and no shatter loss like with a drum. The only drawback is that without the drum, they will quit feeding in tough conditions. Not tough as in green but the minute the stalks get damp with real heavy dew,a bit of fog, or a brief rain. Some would say you should not be out there in those conditions, but that time of the year, one sometimes has no choice. Any one else agreeIJIJ

What type of header did you useIJ We are planning on trying to use our MacDon 962 to do sunflowers without pans. We had thought of taking the pickup reel off and putting a regular bat reel on and using wire mesh from the center of the reel to the bats to prevent the sunflower heads from getting caught on them. thanks

I used NH 970 header.I just took a bat reel and pushed the bat's toward the center or the drum and it worked fine. Alot less moving part's
