Some of the producers in this area are getting turbo and manifold covers made to reduce fire risk in sunflowers. They are used the the forest industery.

Trevor, do you have any info on who makes the covers and where they are locatedIJ Or possibly if plans are available to make your ownIJ Have always ran at night, which helps, but would also like to run when sun is out.

We have a 2188 with an isulation blanket installed and it works excellent. Haven't had a fire since. The blanket is a little tricky to install, you have to remove the hood, drain the anti freeze and remove the water filter housing in order to get the blanket on, this is because the water filter and manifold are about 1_2" apart. It is wired together with stainless steel wire. It is a must to use High temp silicone to seal of all the joints of the blanket, including the where the blanket fits to the head. On the turbo, the cover fits around the exhaust side of the turbo and you must fit it right tight to the intake side of the turbo with the turbo oil line running out of the bottom of the turbo cover. We put ours on the inside of the oil line which left part of the turbo open, we had fires in there. I have pictures, I can e-mail them to you if you give me an e-mail address. The place where I purchased it from didn't give any installation instructions. I will post the address as soon as I find it.

Many thanks to Trevor and SunHarvester. Only relief so far is running at night and blowing turbo and exhaust manifold off after every two rounds (makes for long day). My e-mail is miller@srt.com

We had very good luck on our 2188 by getting the manifold wet and spraying it with a fire extinguisher. Make sure and cover the whole thing. We didn't have a fire all year. We did it every morning and just ran all day, cleaning only when we stopped at night. Might help
