Camshaft: have been following your posts with interest as they deal with the same crops I've got here west of the 4th meridian. Glad to hear combine worked well for you. Your experince is encouraging. I've been considering a similar model change, which causes most people to roll their eyes - galvanized combines quite rare around here. Have an R60, R70, and a late model N7 to check out later this week. Any advice on potential sore spots to watch forIJ Also, what size header or swather are you usingIJ Did you find straw and chaff spread adequateIJ

Hi Pengs, I'd love a newr truck, my '79 Freightshaker is gettin a little shook. Can't afford a newer one at this time. We were more fortunate in SE SasK - got some decent rain fall. A large area of Sk and Ab were droughted out this year. Been there, done that, 1980's were droughty years for us. Spring wheat ran from 28 - 35 bu._acre, lost about 10 bu_ac due to Fusarium. Barley - 55bu_ac (vomotoxin to high for malt or hog feed, but ok for cattle),lentils - 13, canola - 25, flax - 22, desi chickpea - 22. Didn't get time to install Kirby. Will likely install next year for chaff only. I was happy with the straw spread from the OEM spreaders. When does your harvest startIJ I'm guessing Dec. Hi Oatboy, West of the 4th - Must be sunny Alberta. Don't be afraid of that R60 or R70. I'm very happy with the Duetz, my fuel consumption per acre is down from the l2. Check elevator chains and sprokets(top sprocket on clean grain) and feeder chains and sprockets and of course cylinder bars and concave. IMHO these machines can be purchased at a discount to some of the other makes and then do the mods. If you need cylinder bars do consider the Sunny Brook rotor. It is well worth the extra cost. Threshes excellent and no vibration(Rasp type bars make it thresh similar to the P3 processor). I stuck $12,000.00 Can. into my R60 and now have a high capacity machine that will last me quite some time. 125 engine hours less than last year with the l2. I'm running a 30' 330 header - 1985 model N header. Have a 24.5' swather (would like a 30' - it just never ends.) OEM straw spreaders worked fine, basicly spread back over the 30'. I'm in to no-till here so would like a better spread on the chaff. I have a Kirby, that I intend to install for next year(to spread chaff only).

Not as exciting as that type of thing. Does'nt it usually end up being college kidsIJ I'm hoping aliens come in and add some yield instead of knocking it down in my fields. looks like you got some grain off any way. Start canola end november wheat early december round here. How fast were you going in the 35 bu wheatIJ Bet you were just mowing it off.8_10 miles_hourIJ

Hi Pengs, Not concerned at all. Some say it is caused by some sort of natural electro-magnetic field. I always thought it was the work of pranksters, but once I saw one I'm not so sure anymore - just too much detail. The wheat stocks even seem to be bent in the direction of the circle. Too many circles to be work of pranksters - about 10 in our area this year. I was running 4.5 to 5 MPH in the wheat. The 35 bu. wheat had enough straw to be 45. I start pushing over 5 MPH and wheat comes under and around and over top of auger and plugs feeder drum. Rolf has a good fix I'm going to try next year - speed up the table auger a few RPM. You're likely tuning up that Gleaner getting it ready for the harvest. What size_make swather do you use on the canola. How's the canola lookenIJ

Hey there camshaft. Circle things are very weird. Is it in the tips sections about extending the auger flighting to meet in the middle from both sidesIJ .I did this on old new holland and made a big difference not only for feeding but made whole machine work better.It use to have to much stuff sitting in front of retractable fingers it would just push wheat under front.Mainly at higher speeds not that it was capable of much. Intend to do gleaner front some time but fortunatly wont matter this year cause thanks to some nice rain recently wheat is looking 70 bu so no speed records this year.Be nice to snip the heads off but some lodging now so looking like croplifters. Yes checking her over .New grain chain few things here and there no major stuff this year. Friend of mine windrows our canola.He has a case its 21feet wide . Its PTO as are most.21 feet would be most popular.They range from 15 to 30 feet.Self propelled seem to be on 25 feet. Harvested some 25 footers last year did'nt have any feeding trouble but was slower but did'nt matter. Macdon seem to be the pick of windrowers last few years.They're is a good Australian one to but i think it might be a bit dearer. Self propelled seem to do a better job.They seem to cut less stalk,dont do as many big lumps especially if leaning and working up and down suits me but alas round and round we go. Canola here looks like 3_4 to 1 tonne to acre. Hardly any disease this year and after nice rain of late its filling out real nice. When i was in Alberta some were windrowing two laps then aerial spraying round up and then direct heading did that take off or notIJ Catch ya later Peng
