Combines Sunnybrook helical kit

I found out only a few of these helical kits were sold. They were not Sunnybrook. A Sunnybrook rep had showed me the picture of them many years ago so I thought they were Sunnybrook design. Whoever made them may of sold some sets privately as well. I would bet the clearance to cylinder bar was just to close to work well in some crops. I think the guy with this setup will go ahead and switch his machine to the latest. Thank you to the guy that got me the info on this.

I believe this was the set up I had, it was a deplorable joke! Possibly was applicable in beans with a slow cyl. speed. (200-300rpm) I think the material would impact against (rather than spiral along ) the helicals.Ran a stock R72 beside the modified one. Stock had 40-50%more capacity. That winter, I stripped out all the modifications including the inclosed cylinder, and went back to stock channels and rotor. No more problems. I was at the local dealer this fall and they had a customer R62 that they were converting back to stock from Sunnybrook helicals. I do not yet know the results of that, but the customer was desperately looking for something better. All this sort of reminds me of what I encountered when I ran massey 860's. The concaves we used in this area were manufactured in Rosetown and had 3_8ths key stock welded to the concave. They worked reasonably well, but when compared with stock probably reduced combine capacity by 15%. My two cents worth, or at least two cents Canadian.
