Combines Sunnybrook QuestionsIJ

My Sunnybrook is in a P1 machine so maybe a little different from your P3. I set the discharge paddles to the most extended position. It was shipped with them in the lowest position. I added a green stem kit and shimmed all helicals 1_4"(not sure about green stem kit with P3, but shimming helicals will likely help you flow the straw through to discharge). Did they ship it with reverse bars installedIJ Mine came from factory with 2 reverse bars(actually these are 1_2 length bars) on seperator side. Sunnybrook recommended trying them for first season(they were concerned about possible rotor loss) The only crop I had rotor loss was in flax. This year I'm trying the crop retarder fingers with flax.

Camshaft, My Sunnybrook came with the discharge paddles in the "up" position, and Sunnybrook rep said we should leave them there or will have cobs broken up bad in corn. What is your experienceIJ Also, They ship all rotors without any reverse bars now, and I agree with that as I had no reverse bars on my regular rotor with high_low sep. and worked with very little loss. My wear on original rotor indicates alot of wear at end of concave_beginning of sep. so I want to set up to fix that so I don't wear the sunnybrook that way(while keeping losses down.) The Two ideas from Hyper is to extend helical into top front of concave area which I will do, and removing the thresher guide left of concave. This change I am concerned about because crop can get to the sep. with little time in concave side. Is this a problemIJIJIJ Anyone have experience to knowIJIJIJ

No corn here. "The Two ideas from Hyper is to extend helical into top front of concave area" I guess I did that with the "green stem kit" in my P1. "removing the thresher guide left of concave - because crop can get to the sep. with little time in concave side" With the P1 everything goes over the concave. Maybe the forward bars flip it to the seperator side some what, it would be nice to have a little camera in there to see what exactly happens. I'm very happy with the threshing job this machine does, however I've never experienced the rumble as last year was my first with a rotor machine. I'm going to contact Sunnybrook and request 2 forward bars to replace the reverse bars on my rotor. They said last year they would do that if rotor loss was not a problem.

Thanks for the comeback. I will be making those changes before fall harvest.

We incorporate the helical extention over top left corner of feeder opening into the crop flow director. We only cut away enough of the crop flow director so we can support filler piece that holds extended helical. In doing it that way no more material will slip over to seperator grate without going over concave than before helical extention. I believe Sunnybrook wants discharge paddles retracted for corn and out for other crops. If it were me I would try it both ways within the same crop and condition to see what works best. Sometimes the littlest things can make a biggest difference.
