What rotor loss problems in cornIJ On older machines (and some newer ones) without the high-wire separator grate (and possibly high wire concave as well),rotor loss in corn was possible. The OEM rotor works great but rotor loss in corn is usually indicative of improper grate becoming plugged with cobs or that a concave adjustment is needed. And on 97 and later machines, we have the ability to tighten up the clearance at the separator grate so rotor loss should almost never be a problem on these newer machines. If the wires on your separator grate are as close together as those at the first section of your threshing concave, I'd recommend either replacing the grate with a high-wire one through your dealer or simply pull out every other wire in the separator grate so cobs won't become lodged in the holes. Should take care of the problem and in my opinion, every machine doing a substantial amount of corn should be similarly equipped. AGCO should just make hi-wire separator grate standard for corn_soybean machines. P.S. Pulling out the wires or installing the hi-wire grate doesn't hurt the machine's performance in soys, small grains, and other crops either; actually works a bit better than standard grate 99% of time.
