Combines SWAPPED MY 8010

Thats exactly how mine was and no power same feed back from Case still do not know what they are going to do, brought combine in before Thanksgiving for waranty still not fixed finally brought it home getting really pi--ed off went and toured the Deere plant last week, I seen in farm paper where Deere is trading in CRs also.

"GRAIN lOSS MONITER WORKED GREAT, STAYED MAXED OUT All THE TIME." lOl, now that's funny. I knew a farmer down here that tried the 8010 in rice, didn't work too well. I think he said he was cutting more in a day with his 2388 side-by-side. From what I understand, he was the first farmer in the nation to get the power upgrade. He said it worked better after that, but was still too heavy in a muddy field. He said it was a corn eating machine, and did pretty good in beans too.

You have to wonder where the he11 did the Case IH engineers test out these 8010's before they hit the market the common talk on this board since the 8010's have been released is not enough power for the physical size of the machine. I mean didn't they know this from their own research and testing of this machine or did they lay out a crop on an Indy race track and test it there. Sure it may be a great machine in corn but here is a News Flash for you CNH most farmers today do not grow just corn they grow all types of crops. (Maybe CNH wants us to buy a 2388 for all your other crops and an 8010 for corn great for sales, not to pratical for the pocket book) I have had a lot of Case IH combines and the thread below about the 2388 made several great points like the size of the bin or the unloading speed I think they could improve on these items and as for the 8010 I ran a brand new 1460 in 1978 when the axial flows first came out it was my uncle's combine and we harvested 2100 acres with it and the only time someone from the dealership had to come out was when we blew a rotor belt. These 8010's from the sounds of things on this site need a whole fleet of mechanics to follow them around. I have been told that line too, trade two machines and do as much with this one. lISTEN TO THIS CASE IH "NOT GOING TO HAPPEN" there is no way on g0ds green earth that 1 brand new 8010 will do as much as two brand new 2388's with AFX rotors. It sometimes seems that CNH is hoping to fail with this 8010 venture. OK I will get off my soap box now but thanks for listening guys.

What I don't understand is how different the feedback is on the AFX8010 combines. I have spoken with (either in person or on the phone) farmers in Kentucky, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Alberta and South Dakota who have all run AFX8010 combines now for at least one full calender year and obviously all operate in a variety of crops...both straight cut and swath. One of these farmers own's six 8010's and has traded for six new 2005 8010's, another has two now with two more on order. And apart from chopper problems there have been NO other major complaints about any of these machines. Of course there are minor breakdowns that have occurred but nothing that had the machine down for longer than a few hours. So I ask; "How can there be such an extreme difference in performance IJ"....and... "Why would farmers continue to buy_trade in on machines that perform soo poorly IJ" I'm not saying that no-one out there has had problems with an AFX8010...especially the 2003 machines which for a first year machine experienced typical "growing pains", and for those of you that have gone through legitimate trouble you have my sympathy. My issue is that I feel many anti-AFX8010 farmers are either the typical "internet farmers", guys that have had no other experience with the AFX8010 than walking by it at a farm show and love to spread rumour and BS, or guys that are dealing with CaseIH dealerships that just may not be doing everything they can, as fast as they can regardless of what they are telling the customer. And for those of you that are seeking a problem free combine with the 60 series STS machines I would keep looking. Our neighbour run's two 9860STS's and while he is 100% pro-Deere even he admit's that there are still major design flaws with his machines. Hope I didn't offend too many, and any answers to my questions would be appreciated !

Well about them 6 if they are the ones at Elbow lake they very seldom kept all running, normally 3 I am only about 50miles from there. That corperation gets new machines every year.The local dealer salesman is the ones braging up the 8010 not every farmer reads these posts,they want to sell combines they are not going to tell you go buy a Deere or Cat.Freind of mine traded his for a 05 hoping they are better so were notagainst red at all and I am a real farmer.And some people will not admit they made a 1_4 mill. mistake. 5 sold here and most have complaints some machines people traded there machines from last year and all said old ones were better some of the 5 have all ready been traded for Deere but I said I would give them one more chance cause I do want it to work just tell us what Case's plans are for updates they owe us that much and if they say they don't know what about the machines that are being shiped out do they need to do all the updates on 05s I seen 2 knew ones on trucks going down I-80 I read below about 8010 on auction with all updates done whats the secret let me know,there has to be something better than the present 8010 in a class 8 machine all the bashing that has went on here Case has deserved every bit and I still say people don't buy 8010 keep your 23s that rumor that all sold out of 8010s for this year is not true you could get one in Feb. so either people are cancelling out or Case lyed all along about being sold out.I will say if you did not have a 8010 you are very lucky you do not have a clue how bad it was. Sorry for so long a thread.

my AFX8010's just sitting and waiting for the 2005 harvest. All of them around here, except mine, performed well. 1 more has been sold for next year. the only thing wrong with a green or yellow one is, if you bought one you'd have to look at it. I just couldn't do that.

Ok, here is my laughable take on the 8010 and several other pieces of new equipment. "THEY ARE OVER ENGINEERED." This is why you hear the extreme differences on performance and reliability. The engineers have focused too hard on engineering things to their absolute maximum. If you look at it in the same way as your business, you know there becomes a "point of dimishing returns" when you figure your costs. Well, that's basicly what has happened here. The size of the threshing and cleaning systems have been pushed beyond their "comfort zone" or their point of maximum return. Anytime you push something to its absolute max, it only takes the very smallest variation to send it into overload and failure. If you have been around for a while, you can look at the progression of the moderization of the combines. The 1480 I think had around 180hp, then they put a little more on the 1680, then that overloaded the cleaning capacity so they went to long shoe. Then they put more power on the 1688, ok, still working well. Then the 2188, still more power same size rotor and shoe. Then the 2388, more power but still the same size rotor and shoe. The 2388 started to become somewhat finikey in certain crops in various climates and locations, if ran by the hp it would again start to overload the capacity of either the rotor or the shoe. But still, things seemed to be a fairly good match. Now with the 8010 and other colors, they have gone too far. The horsepower and technology have out done the rest of the machines ability to keep up. If you were to take a poll, I'm going to say the majority of the farmers with the good reviews are ones that are in dryer climates or have shorter stemed material running through the machine. The farmers with most of the negative reviews are ones in wetter climates or softer soil and long stem, high material loads. Of course there will be variables there too. Ok, now you can laugh. I'm done.

Farmer Tony, I think that it is funny that you complained all year about your 8010, but now you make it sound like it is not that bad, do not get me wrong I run 2 green combines and one red one, they both have their own areas of greatness. I own almost all john deere tractors with a few case, I like the 270 and 240 for fuel consumption but did not like the trade in value. I have found that after a couple of years of running any brand of equipment I have gotten the biggest return from the J.D., I am not trying to start an argument, that is my experience. I also have a neighbor here in southeastern South Dakota that has had an 8010 for 2 seasons now and has had very good luck with it. There is only one 8010 here so I do not know how the rest would fair here, but I do know that the N.H. 960 and 940's have really sold well here this year, I think that is due to the fact that the 8010's were so limited, N.H. is not real hot here for tractors, I was the only farmer here that owned more than one genesis, there were 4 others sold in this area. I am not partial to any color, just any color that holds value and is easy to upkeep, that has been green for me. Also what area are you from is it NebraskaIJ Go Huskers
