Combines swapping 1440 engine

You can put a motor out of a 1460 right into your 1440. Your other question below if you get a motor out of a 1460 you will gain hp. The 1440 motors are naturally aspurated while the 1460 will have a turbo on it. Over the years we have had both a 1440 and a 1460. We installed a turbo on the 1440. They are very good combines for edible beans...

thanks,does the extra power with the turbo break parts,do i need a larger radiator,does the 1460 engine bolt right to the pto gearcaseIJ is there a noticable increase in powerIJ

Cornman, I think you will notice the power increase. While the threshing system is nearly the same between 1440 and 1460,the propusion,drive axle and support frame are quite a bit heavier on the 60 model.i have seen a few 40's that have the drive axle broken clear loose from the combine frame ,so would encourage you to look that over before you repower...May be long term easier to just go to a 60..
