The operators manual gives about as good of directions as you will find... You will want sombody to help hold the wieght of the row unit as you move them,,,unless you have an overhead hoist_forklift.. The biggest problem is going to be rusty bolts, they will be rusted down to where a wrench_socket will not fit properly,,save your knuckles and torch them asap... New hardware is not that expensive...

Switching to 28" all you should have to do is remove spacers,as this is the narrowest it will go. The worst part or the most time comsuming is all the bolts in the snouts.What you will run into is everything else in need of repair,like bearings,sprockets,chains etc.,a good time for a complete inspection.I have never sold a cornhead that was set right,if it was on 38 they need 36 and so on.Not hard work but time consuming.
