Combines Tailings Return Modification

I agree to disagree which is cool. I just think at end of day you will end up with same setting regardless if you have a tailings monitor or not. I will continue to look through the window into the bin to monitor my sample, watch my loss monitor and look on ground. It will save me money. Good luck with your harvest.

Ability to view talings was also a high priority when we built the XBR2 Bi-Rotor combine. The early 1660, known as Whitey, had the tailings modified by extending the tailings elevator head upward. The XBR2 had the best set up with the triple option elevator circulating around the combine. 1) Tailings could be dumped directly into the grain tank such as when harvesting high volumes of corn or corn cob mix. 2) Normal tailings flow was out of the upper right corner, down along the right side slide chute and into the center of the rotor for rethreshing. 3) Option three included moving the discharge chute to the outer edge of the rotor for return to the cleaning shoe only for recleaning, without a rethresh operation. Some day this will probably become the standard for future combines. It is nice to be able to see the tailings. Current best option is the upper returns system used on the lexions. Tailings are some what visible in their open upper trough.
