Combines tassel buildup in front of feeder house

We had trouble with very dry fodder. The leaves would build up until the ears wouldn't feed in anymore. We made three changes. 1) We set the gathering chain in the aggressive position, (description in your manual). 2) We have older high tin head and changed the sprockets on the outside drive chains to "high speed". 3) Re-inforced the rubber paddles in the center of the cross auger with 3_8" thick white poly. The plastic covers about 1_2 of the depth of the paddles. If you re-inforce the entire paddle area, ears will wedge between the paddle and the trough of the auger. (Found out the hard way) I hope this is what you're looking for. Have a great day.

You did good. Another alternative is a wedge between the feeder house and header that Deere offers for changing the angle of the head. And another alternative is 'take a siesta for that 2 hour period in the afternoon when the crop gets fluffy and piles up'.
