Well the belt is 1.75" wide and 25_32" deep and 94" long. There should be 1_8" between the bottom pulleys when all the way in slow. There are shims to prevent it from spreading too far that are in the main clutch shaft. The inner sheave is connected on a torque cam that is pinned to the inner sheave and splined on the input shaft. As the belt slips it rotates the inner sheave and a cam tightens the belt. If one puts the machine in gear and leans out the door and lets out on the clutch oen can actually see the inner sheave move in and tighten the belt as the machine takes off - if every thing is working right.

Is this the way my K2 is supposed to work tooIJ It is serial 24545. It slips in Variable speed low right now but I thought I just did not have the idler right. If you give the var. speed a little bump it will not slip just when backed all the way to slow.

On the F2 there is a cam and spring set up that keeps the belt tight. I had the spring break which would not let the belt grip in the slow speed setting. When I would shut the motor off in any position the drive belt would be loose. I put in a new spring and the problem was fixed. On the K2 there is a spring to keep the pulley tight.

Thanks TbranandSD-455.I'll measure that rascal and also check it for looseness at higher "stick" with dead engine.Sounds like there may be something not up to snuff on the inards.

Tbran- I went through this on my K2. I replaced the drive belt and the problem did not go away. I had everything adjusted correctly. I spoke with a very good gleaner mechanic and he told me that this is normal for most of these machines.

No. The K2 should be adjsuted with 1_16 bottom clearance. The late K2 is unique and no other parts fit. It does not have TS. It does adjust on the high side with the same shims as an F2 to prevent over tightening. I don't think they are available but there were change gears on the transmission to slow it down and let one run second gear mid variable and thus not have the super high speed reverse that results when running all the was open in first and or all the way slow in second. Took the top speed from about 20 to 14 MPH though.

Tbran the belt is only 1.650 wide now.Tried that looking out the door thing and I think the sheave moved in a little but kinda hard to tell.Isn't as loose at part "stick" with dead engine as it is in full retard so maybe a new belt will do it.Thanks
