When we traded our M3 off on an R50 several years ago, we needed a head also. Found a 4 row Hugger advertised as "wide row". It was in nice shape so we bought it. It sat in the shed all summer 'till corn harvest. Took off down throught the field and instantly knew something was wrong - the stalks were whipping no matter how centered we had the center snout. Here the dang thing was set at 36"!! Believe me, sliding the row units farther apart is a cinch compared to widening all the sheet metal snouts! Anyhow, we have since gone to 6-30 and stayed with the Hugger (bought a new 6 row). In my opinion, it can't be beat. It's low profile, fewer chains than the old style heads, they are BUllETPROOF - you won't be dissapointed. Good luck!
