9910's were good pickers. We always ran IH, but a lot of our neighbors ran 9910's. I haven't seen one running in a long time. We very seldom see any 2-rows running anymore. The only caution I can think of is don't back up with the heads in gear. You'll bend bars. Glad you found what you were looking for.

listen to deaduck about backing up with the headers in gear cause it will mess up some bars, I am just tryin to figure out where u found a 9910 with only 1800 hours, most of the ones that left have 2 and 3 times as many hours. As good as John Deere pickers were, I never could figure out why they didn't fix that design flaw sooner. I think even the 1-row IH pickers had the Protect-o-matic one way clutch up top to keep the heads from turning backwards. I know the 422's from the late 60s - early 70's had them. We demoed a JD 9940 4-row when they first came out. I was running it, and when I got out to the end, our turnrow wasn't wide enough so I backed up to get straight with the rows. Saleman came running out waving his arms. He jumped in the cab and proceeded to give me a lecture about not backing up with the heads in gear. My response; "Why the heck did they make it like thatIJ What good's a hydrostat if you can't back upIJ" Dumping that basket was another nightmare. So when we went 4-row it was an 1844.

Ah i know exactly where Delta la. is that where Delta county isIJIJ if so u go to any mud races over therIJIJ, i'm from yazoo county in Mississippi bout an hour north or Vicksburg. I always wondered the same about John Deere, we had the first John Deere 9940 in the Hills of Mississippi,and John Deere didn't think it would last, then a 50 then a 60, till the 2055, we were scared of the IH stuff after the 782's see ya'll

we farm cotton in north carolina and we have had a 782 and 9910 but we got an 1844 ran it about five years and got a deere 9970 and we love that picker and bought a used 9965 in frisco alabama and have great service out of the two wouldn't go red ever again and plan on getting 9976 for this season.

Oops, I meant Delta Country, as in the Miss River Delta area. We farm northwest of the town of Delta, more toward the town of Epps. Delta is in Madison parish, louisiana calls it's counties parishes. The mud racing thing has gotten pretty big around here, but I've never been to the track at Delta. There's one in Richland parish north of Holly Ridge that I've been to. I know a few guys that own trucks. It's amazing how much their spending now. I know what you mean on the 782's. We owned 3 of them at one time, and I got very familiar with the underside of those things, cleaning out the back doors. Was glad to go 4-row after that.

i noticed that you said countRy after i had submitted, The mud racing is getting to be a pretty hot deal here too, we have the only track that has 3 turns instead of 1 and also our track isn't in the delta, good hill dirt. We have been to Start and Mound a few time over there to see some races. see ya'll
