The Ark of Taste

[Petal to the Metal]

Have you guys heard of the Ark of Taste? It's an organization that encourages growers to plant varieties that are declining to the point that they might disappear altogether. If that happens, it means we'll never experience that particular flavor again. They focus on unique flavors too, so it's sad to think about them disappearing. It's too late to plant some of their choices now, but I will probably do so this fall.

I grow some tomatoes from their list. I'm a CSA grower and our local group manager encourages us to try one or two things from their list each growing season. I suppose it's good for advertising. I don't mind. They're heritage plants, so they're generally easy to grow.
