Dakota, Your not asking for to much in a combine are you. That would be a nice combine and company if that could happen. I have never seen the Bi-rotor combine. It sounds like it could of been the combine of the future. Maybe some day we will see itIJ Your 24_7 ideal could be done today. My big truck dealer(Freightliner) is like that, can get parts any time of the day or service. Here in the midwest a dealer should have a partsman on call during harvest till 9-10 pm. That would help service a lot. A long time ago when we had an Oliver combine, Dad could go on Sunday or late in the day and knock on the dealers house door and get parts. The dealer lived right next to the shop. He also sold beer and would give costomers one to drink sometimes. Some how things seem a lot better back then than now. Ilnh

I might be asking a lot for a combine. But right now I can't even see any manufacturer aiming much for it. I can name you examples for good service. MacDon has never let us down yet. I met a guy form Finland last year. He told me, that their big ag manufacturer Valmet is open 24_7 during harvest season. But if you are forced to leave a message on some voicemail and get called back three days later, if at all, that is not service. If you want to know more about the Birotor, its birth is described in the book "Dream Reaper". The Birotor itself can still be seen in north central Kansas.

Dakota it seem that you like the conventional machine better then rotor. What do you like better about the conventional over the rotorIJ When we use to us the conventional to cut barley and it seemed like we got more straw from them then with the rotor we use now. Thanks swtvid

I prefer the conventional cylinder with the rotor separating, because I can adjust them independantly. In corn for example, very often you need higher cylinder speeds than you think, because some new variaties coming of the cob tough, or you are in high moisture corn. But in the separator you wish to run as slow as possible, so you don't screw the corn out of the back. At the same time a rotor separator has a higher capacity than a walker.
