Combines The

Rooster

The CTS certainly is quite a performer with some interesting potential. Too bad this is the CTS's last year of production in East Moline. Deere is discontinuing it for 2006. Deere is also moving all straw walker production out of E. Moline as well. All Deere walker combines will be imported in ton North America from their combine production facility in Germany.

Hello Nathan, Yes, it was VERY stupid on thier part to turn my offer down. They originally indicated that the combine package included a 25' flex but, in fact, it was a 30', so they wanted an "adjustment" to my offer for the additional 5'. I said "No way", a deal is a deal and I couldn't help it if they didn't know what they had for sale. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought thier demands for more money were petty. As it turns out, a NEW conventional isn't going to be too much more if I decide to go that way!

We purchased our first sts 2 seasons ago,,we had a 9600 and it is a huge improvement,,I believe that there is a tremendous difference between the 9660sts and the 9660 walker,,,I would go with the sts if I were you. Deere is coming out with a walker_tine separator next year ,,,,from europe. It is supposed to be comparable to the old tx series of NH. Hope this is some help

I should have wrote my comments at the bottom here,,i do have another post farther up the list. As for JD farmers comment on the 9660sts not being able to run circles around the 2388 I dont agree with that we run with a neighbour with a 2388 sometimes, we are 36 ft and he is 30 and we leave him standing still especially at night alot less power used on the sts compared to the straight rotor.

You'd better re-read my post as I said it would run circles around the 2388.

We surprisingly only had problems with the heads this year. The combines all ran perfectly with the exception of a set of fuel filters. The corn we were running in was 150-190 bu. 12row20" heads.

Has anyone else had problems with the 9660sts fuel filter housings breaking from trying to get the filter offIJ I know I did when I ran with a crew this summer. On 3 of the 4 9660's we had to replace the whole housing because john deere either overtightened the filter onto the housing or was fitted when paint was still wet. Not sure which was the exact problem but when the first one broke we thought it was the guys fault but then a second and third occured with different people and different methods of trying to take off the filter. Eventually on the last one we just placed a large block to kinda wedge the housing from torqueing with the filter and succesfully got it off with alot of huffing and puffing.

Well I hope they have an incredibly hard time selling it. Don't think they will but lets hope so. Well let us know what you choose. I'm off to Huron Tractor in Thamesford tomorrow. Go there when I get time to. Check to see what new "toys" they have. Had a 9660 there last time sitting outback. Take care, Nathan

Hello Nathan, I've been to Huron Tractor in Thamesford a few times for parts; - heck, I was buying there when it was still Green Acres Equipment. I haven't bought much from Huron Tractor since Herb and his partners sold it off. Who owns it nowIJ I tried dealing with one of the salesmen there but I didn't care for his attitude. Besides, Thamesford is a little out of my way. I deal primarily with Podolinsky and thier "sister" branch at Rodney, Fulline. Hey Nathan, Do you remember where the Green Acres Equipment dealership used to be in WoodstockIJ was it on Hwy. 2 or sweaburg roadIJ
