Yes the 500s (510_550) had the 354 perkins diesel. The 550 being the newer model of the 510.I had a 510 and was quite satisfied with it.They had both Belt, and Hydro drive. Though it easier to find a 550 hydro. They "could" handle a 6 row corn head. They are an extermely afforidable machine to consider. Joe

Just get a 510 without a doubt the cheapest diesel burning combine ever made. Cut 70 acres on one tank of diesel this year. Easy to work on easy to set. I have heard some mixed results on the 550 but very few people will complain about their 510's. Thee BEST combine EVER made in my opinion. If you want to know more about them e-mail me at kidroff@hotmail.com

hmmmmmm that sounds good but 70 acres of thin grain on dry land would be different from the heavy crops we get in ontario 510 horsepowerIJ -M.

I live in south western ontario and there lots of good 550's around. I could likely locate one for you in a day or so or just pick up the Ontario Farmer paper. The hp on the 550 is about 100. It uses the Perkins A6.354 engine non turbo.
