We use an 83 7720 (they didnt have the T2 until later) and it runs like a dream. I dont have any personal experience with the T2's and I dont know the exact differences but I have heard some opinions. The differences i know of are that the T2 has longer straw walkers and faster shaker speed to slightly increase capacity. Most guys will tell you that the T2 isnt worth the extra money. In fact some guys prefer the non T2. Some guys have complained about the faster speed wearing things out faster and they have actually slowed it back down to the non T2 speed. What would I doIJ Save yourself some cash and get a non T2 machine. We run a 220 Flex and a 6 row corn head. Works great and goes through alot of grain. When set right these machines can give a very clean sample with very little loss. Find a combine and head with Dial-A-Matic, and get the variable speed feederhouse and feederhouse reverser. These are very nice options. Keep an eye on auctions...I dont know how the farm economy is in your area but we picked ours up for $5500 here in East Central MN. Good luck.

One more thought...a 6620 will more than suit your needs. It will fly through your 200 acres and will handle the extra that you may add in the future. And to answer your questions about switching from beans to corn. Its very easy. The drum height on the feederhouse gets changed... takes five minutes tops. The cylinder speed and concave adjustments are made right from the cab and can be adjusted on the go. Set it somewhere close before you start and fine tune it going down the field. Adjust fan speed according to the manual and adjust your sieves...then you're ready to go. Good luck.

have an 83 6620 serial no. 555 something. it had most of the updates on it that the t2s- dual speed cylinder, reverser, hydro. also had the clean grain elevator chain adjustment you make from the ground, not up on top like the older models. it has been a very reliable machine approaching 4k hours, dont use any oil, plenty of power. would help if you find one with the chopper slow down kit on it. or one that just had chopper balanced. can cause a lot of vibration and sheet metal distress if chopper is out of whack. good luck.

i have a 7720 titan II used to run a 7720. I love my machine the difference between the two is longer chaffer. and the cleaning shoe runs faster it has a two speed cylinder but most late model 7720's 1982 to 1985 have that option. the titan's were made in 85 to 88. i run a 925 flex head and a 643 cornhead. i travel 4mph in beans and 5mph in corn. I have all the capacity that i need. they are both very good machines. if you buy a a regular 7720 make suer you have the heavy rear axle and two speed cylinder. they are great options

OtterFork, like many have mentioned, the shoe of the T2's are bigger - around 6". On the 66 and 7720 T2's the tailings elevator is one that the 8820 has. I believe the motor had a few more HP on the T2's and the late ones utilize the 466 from the 50 series tractors that have a crank driven oil pump. If you look for a yellow top, I would go for an 83 or 84 model. My opinion about pricing is that T2 prices are falling and I think one of these machines can be had for the same or little more that the yellow toppers. I you have any other IJ's let me know.

We have never changed our feeder house drum height on any of the 7720 combines we've had.leave it in the up position, it works fine.
