Combines Throwing grain out rear and unthreshed heads in bin in R 40

Is the machine feeding evenly or is the crop entering in slugsIJ Good threshing and seperation demands even feeding - in any combine!! Next thing is to check the condition of the accelerator rolls. It is absolutely necessary that they be in good condition. Now, unless the wheat is light it should be nearly impossible to blow it off the sieves. You can walk it out on a mat of chaff but wheat is heavy. If all you have on the sieves is wheat you can't blow it off. My advice is to turn the fan up, set the bottom sieve about 1_4" for starters and adjust the chaffer open more if you are still losing off the back of the sieve. Again, make sure the rolls are good so the initial air blast gets rid of all the chaff. There is no excuse to load the sieves with anything other than wheat when you're running a Gleaner. Ed in MT

If you have'nt done this already; try installing 2 or 3 filler bars in the first rows of the concave. One or two fillers can make a huge difference to threshing. We have run up to 5 fillers in canaryseed to thresh it. Wheat in our conditions [ hot and dry ] 2 or 3 fillers. On the shoe problem,as Ed says, check the accelerator rolls. When a pencil can be slipped straight down thru them ,they are well and truly worn past use-by date and you will then blow lots of grain out the back. Rotary Gleaners like to kept full and in good cereals, engine power should be the main limiter. l.O.l.

Hard to thresh and no tailings return to cylinder option equals tighter concave clearance. If gauge is acurate you are at 3_16 at rear and front section of concave is set to MID you will be well over 1_2" at front. First set concave to get a little contact while turning over by hand and check rear of concave for levelness to cylinder bars. level the concave and zero the gauge. Front cross bar of concave should be at approx. .4" if set to MID. listen to what other guys said and don't be afraid of bringing concave up to 1_8" and if that don't do it crank front concave up one mark and if that don't do it bring it up one more mark. Always be sure to turn machine over by hand when bringing concave so close to cylinder bars. Bring front of concave back a mark or two when getting into easier thresh or opening concave back up. Good luck
