Ticks on the Farm

Bug or mosquito spray is not going to help much, rather you need to wear a repellent specifically designed for ticks and remember that tick repellent is meant to be applied to clothing, not to the skin.

Farms are great breeding grounds for ticks, so you need to keep all areas where tall grass grows mowed and dry and consider applying tick granules to the grass.

Also when mowing etc. side of field on breezy windy day you be surprise how many ticks fall from the trees.

Guinea fowl LOVE eating ticks. I always keep a small flock of guinea fowl to keep down ticks. Chickens also love ticks, but they aren't quite as aggressive eating them as guinea fowl, but chickens produce eggs. I keep both at my place and we rarely have ticks on people or animals.
