Combines Tin thickness on 2388

I wouldn't worry much about different metal gauges on a 2388. We have been running 2388's since '99 and haven't seen any differece in wear between '99, '00, '01, or '02's. You have to run alot of bushels through a 23 to wear out any of the sheet metal, wear components to be concerned about would be the actual threshing components. As for the differences in the 1400's-2300's there have been many updates throughout the different models, a 2388 is definetly more of a machine than a 1480 if that is what you are wondering. If your neighbor is going to harvest 1500-3000 or however many acres a year he will most likely wear out a '02 2388 with 1000hrs in the same amount of time as a '96 2188 with 1000hrs. JFarms

These folks are in for for the long haul on these machines. They are trading three 1480's with 5500 to 6500 hours. They have repaired cones, ears and concaves ect in 1480 but were hearing that tin was lighter on 23's. They were thinking about looong term wear.
