Combines tire size

I don't know that they should cost an extra $2500 but I would give anything to have the 42" on my 9650 walker as they are only 18.4 wide. They are actually metric tires in the equivalents of thos sizes though. Our STS has the 20.8 equivalents on it and they are quite a bit taller though so unless you have a strong desire I would say just go for the 38" for that price.

Get the 42" it is worth it also unless you have to get the factory hopper extension DONT order without and put on Crary Big Top same price and they hold more also can get extra extension like I have so it holds about 425 bushel dont use it all the time but is nice when harvesting alone so you can make it back to the end to unload it, not only do you get the bigger tires but that includes heavier final drives I have 520_ _42 on a 9660 STS with Crary Big Top and have had no trouble also it is better if you are carrying a 12R20 head like I am doing, get the big tires it will be just like a 9760 spec. wise and still be a whole lot cheaper and if you need more power just get a chip

Get the largest tires you can find no matter the price......do the math on the weight of your machine.....header......fuel and grain tank full..... Your ground will thank you! Good luck!

All I hear you guys talking about is size of the tires, you need to check the lbs. of carrying cap and then look for a 3star tire that at least comes close to carrying a fully loaded combine with header, some of these engineers should do their math and find a tire that will carry more than the empty weight of the combine. I'm surprised somebody hasn't sued one of the Big Three combine manufacturers over this error. But talking to the tire companies they can't be held responsible for what the manufacturer puts them on. The same goes for single axle grain carts that are carrying over twice the recommended weight of the tires!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD lUCK EVERYONE

we are running stock JD rims on our 9650sts and have no trouble,,,could have been just a defect in the metal

Dont know much about 9560 but we have 2 9750s and one of them eats standard John Deere rims like candy. The spot welds crack and let the air out, if it happens at night you have ruined a tire befoe you find it. Went to aftermarket rims that are fully closed center circle and have had no problems since. The other machine had 28lX26 tires and rims from factory, had the full center rim and had no trouble in 5 years. Standard Deere rims will not hold the weight on the back end, especially if you have bin extensions like the 9750s come out with. The newer 9750s have the heavier rims.

I believe the wheels i have are eight bolt and the center is open to fit over the hub on the rear axle. The wheel cracked where the rim is welded together. I am not sure whether to weld it back up or go with different tires and_or wheels. The combine is 02 model and I put a bin extension on last year, which makes me wonder if the extra weight caused the problem. Thanks again.

That is the same problem we had. The wheels I am talking about are solid not at the hub but they do not have spokes in them, the outer piece is solid all around the wheel. We have 8 bolt hubs also and those spider wheels will not hold the weight with the bin extensions. The wheel flexes around those spiders and the welds crack out, they are not worth fixing because they will just crack out again. Get some rims without the spiders and 2 inches wider and the problem will be solved, at least it sure worked for us and the tire man said he had put on a ton of them and none of them had cracked.
