Combines To Bubs

Thank you for your comments. I try to be a positive person and I truly believe that the most happiness comes from looking at things through a child's eyes but then dealing with it like a man. In other words if you are hungry and I offer you part of my sandwich and you refuse then I will smile and eat it myself and go on with my business.I am not going to force it on you. I don't know Marvin personally but I do believe that he built this site because he has products to sell, not his love of combines or the stories the combiners tell. When we bash one product or machine it is fuel for his fire and promotion of his products, which I think are ok in the world of aftermarket parts and ideas. I, myself, have a Stewart Axceler on my 2388. It is not the real thing but side by side with a 2005 2388, AFX it is comparable. I commend Marvin for keeping this site decent and something a high school kid could and should read for for a report. I know that some of the posts here are not for real and that some issues have not really been thought out before their fingers tapped the keys. There are really some good ideas here and Marvin often offers to deal with some issues off site. I have no use for bashing of any kind. In the world of competition kindness often takes a back seat and too often we report on what we see across the fence instead of offering a hand to make the day better for both persons. I had my own little Cessna 172 for ten years and it is amazing how so many things reported at the coffee shop just can't be found from the air. The other thing is at 3,000 feet you can't tell if it a person or a log in the swimming pool. Forgive me lord,I looked. If I am of the middle age, I will live to be 120 or so. I hope so. I have been praying for the TX and OK folks. I visited via phone with my farmer friends in Sherman tonight. Along with the moldy corn, low prices, and drought, they are now facing fire and even worse, the arsonist. His daughters saw three fires set last night but the truck got away but it kept the fire departments busy. I know I have rambled a bit with this post and I hope Marvin forgives me and if not there is no harm done. I will visit the other site and see check it out. I stopped at the local Red store today and peeked into the shop. I saw the insides of an 8010 with the feeder house off and the rotor out. I don't know what they had been harvesting because it looked like they had been running 10 inch boulders through it. I wonder what the story will be. Count your blessing and if you can't find any go back to bed, get up and try again. I really would like to sit on one of those seats that tickles you a thousand times a minute. Hey, I have one in the barn---1937, JD B.

Bubs, would you please e-mail me directlyIJ It's sun_dog63[at]yahoo.com. I agree about this site. Marvin uses it to sell his products. I don't know if he even really loves combines. I hope he does, though. I sure do. Maybe too much. I've been in some recent scuffles over on the Gleaner page. It wasn't over any color-bashing, but I defend the old combines and won't back down, especially if their "lives" depend on it! Marvin did not come to their defense, either, but after all, they are old, delapitated and should be eradicated--at least that's how some think. I think a 2388 is one of the prettiest combines in the world. I love Axial-Flows as much as any combines. I've never even seen an 8010. Combines are fast disappearing from central Oklahoma. What few dealers left even handling the Deere, CIH, or whatever line, are only a mere shadow of their past. Many are gone, period. One was once a large Gleaner dealer, but phased out [or maybe forced out] after the AGCO name. He now sells cars and pickups. Puleeze! If I want to bore myself looking at vehicles, there's at least 20 or so dealers in the OKC area. Gag! So do you still flyIJ I like airplanes, too, but never owned one. A good friend used to take me up in his 1946 [IJ] Ercoupe and later a Piper Tripacer. He still had the Ercoupe when he got the Tripacer. I have flown in a Cessna 152, too. Nice plane! I could go on and on with planes. I like them and used to build_collect models.

I have owned a 1975 Cessna 150 for 10 years now and have enjoyed every minute of the 600hrs+ that I've flown it. I legally do all my own maintenance. It had a major engine overhaul 2 years ago and the airplane is in top notch condition. Are there any other aircraft owners here. The best to everyone here for 2006. John. Check out the following great group of owner pilots. http:__groups.yahoo.com_group_cessna_150_152_group_

No, never flown into central OK, but I've driven thru your great state of OK. to see the wheat harvesting. I've cut wheat near Big Bow, south west KS; circles near Dalhart TX. and furrow irrigated wheat beds near Parker AZ. Next year I want to fly to the factory in Independence KS, then on to the 150_2 Clinton Iowa meet, then on to Oshkosh. I'm a long way from ya, up here in the Pacific North West. All the best for 2006.

Combine Wizzard---- I tried your email, no reply. Try sending me one. I flew about 450 hours before I traded the plane for a Hagie Sprayer. It is now at the Hagie factory in Iowa. I think the sprayer is making me more money but not as much fun. There is nothing like flying to clear your mind and wipe the nonsense out for a few hours. I have broken the rules a few times and slipped over the fence and almost blew the dust off the combines. One of my favorite stories was told by a lexion-485R owner. I new the character and came at him head on at 300 ft or so. He swears I was no more than 20ft but his eyes were as big as dollars as I passed him about 100 ft outside his unload auger. It was a big field and the day was great. I think he stood up in the seat for the next round. love the plane, don't miss the expense and security rules. I can still fly, but mostly on paper or dreams. Pray for rain in TX and OK. We are wet in Central IN. Keep your wings level and your eye on the horison.
