Combines to trade or not to trade red to gren

I myself would stay with the Red ones, I am sure you would get along fine with the green one but your heads will fit right off of the 1660 and on to the 1680. You will be amazed with the difference in the 80 vs your 60. The rotor difference, the cleaning difference, and the horsepower. I highly dowbt the 9500 will out perform the 1680. The Red machine is a much easier machine to work on and maintain. I have never harvested soybeans before so I couldnt tell you anything there but I will promise you wont be dissapointed with the job you will get out of the 1680 in corn..... Given those two choices I would go with the CIH hands down. The 9500 would be more of a step sideways than a step up. The 80 will outperform your 60 by quite a bit. As a side benefit you can keep your heads, plus you won't have to relearn a new machine since you already know how to setup and run an Axial Flow. If you are happy with the performance of your current combine I see no reason to give that up and go with a completely new machine.

I have ran the 1680 and the 9500_9600 for a full season each and have rebuild both of those machines. Capacity wise I found, that the 1680 will surely outperform the 9500 in wheat. In corn they are pretty close. When you dump on the go the 9500 will run out of power. A 9510 would help power wise. The Deere generally unloads a little faster. The 1680 can easily be tuned up to 1688 power because their engines are pure mechanically controled. JD certainly has the nicer corn had for those machines; with poly snouts and optional hydraulic deckplates. Also for corn you will like the variable speed feederhouse on the Deere. In soybeans you should not notice to much difference unless the stems get real green. There the rotor will have a little advantage. Mechanically the 9500 is build a little sturdier than the 1680 and the wear parts are a little easier to fix. We had more welding to do on the inside of the 1680. Especially the chaffer and sieve frame and its drives is a trouble spot. The rubber bushings for the shoe arms last longer on a Deere. The 9500 has more bearings to take care of. We just change certain ones ahead of time.

Red or Green its your option but I would personally take a study both companies history. Green has been green and I believe will always be green. Red was IH then Case controlled, now it is CNH, history prevails lots of owners and not many changes to the fundamentals of the product eg. Axial Flow. CNH is CASE, NEW HOllAND, CHS and how many more!!. A company like this at present is looking to consolidate models and will not directly improve the present range of goods. Greens have their problems but have a good foundation and dealer network. We have a global meeting room, lets directly compare positive and negative aspects for both manufactures models. O.K. The 9500 has good quality finish, e.g wires and hydraulic hoses are routed professionally unlike the mess on the 2366. Can anybody contest my point

have run 1680 beside 9500 in milo. no comparison! 1680 had half again the capacity and wasn't grinding the grain to get it. Ground was flour white behind 9500. don't know about corn or beans though

have run 1660 and 9500 side by side and 9500 will not keep up with 1660 it also will not clean the grain like a rotor besides if green is all that how come they have a rotor nowIJ i also worked for a green dealer for two years deere is really scared of new company
