Combines too many beans in return F2

My F2 records show 3_8" cylinder gap, 3 channel concaves (1-3-5),600rpm (with a 16" pulley),air on 3, 1_2" opening on standard chaffer and I run a bean screen. When I use a finger sieve I set it for 3_8". The best thing you can do is get a bean screen no matter what size combine you have, one less thing to set plus you will have very little pods or stems in the hopper. We have always run a bean screen unless we run corn in the morning and beans in the afternoon which is rare.

I have never been in a Gleaner that didn't have a pretty good amount of beans in the return, that is why it is there, otherwise they would be on the ground. Follow a John Deere after good corn and you'll see why. Close your cylinder down to 1_2" unless your stems are larger. 60 bu beans and 15ft head are a lot for the narrow body F machines. Pods are gonna come off 9% beans anyway. I would rather take 1% dock at the elevator for a little trash in the bin rather than leaving them on the ground. Be patient putting the gold in the tank. look ClOSElY at your fan choke linkage. It is easy to get on wrong. When this happens the choke works in reverse, the more you open it the more it ClOSES. When the fan is open in cab the choke (the flapper on top of the fan) should be on the screw stops at the top of the housing. I do not see how you can get beans through at that slow and wide a cyl setting. It could be that if whole unhulled pods are getting through the chaffer and not the seive they are getting 'threshed' in the return auger and by the paddles on the return if they are dry. A second cause can be due to a hole in the bottom of the grain bin recycling beans and oeverloading the shoe! low engine RPM can cause this to some degree as well as can a worn clean grain auger in the bottom or a worn clean grain auger in the top of the bin not expelling the grain and thus letting it go back down the elevator and this overloads the shoe. Just some food for thought.

I always get a bean screen when I buy the combine as part of the deal. Check with your AGCO_Gleaner dealer. Most after market places don't carry parts for the F series or smaller combines. The one I have is made with a wood frame with the screen nailed to it. You could get a screen for a bigger machine and cut it down if you can't find one to fit your F2.
