Not a misprint. It had a nice cab and a 134A airconditing set up on it. Still crazy to bring that much.

Apparantly traders will buy your 4430 for ten and sell it for 17 and tell the guy how cheap it was. gs

Yeah no joke...I have got a 1971 3020 synchro range diesel with 4,000 original hours. I wonder what it would bringIJ I only paid $2500 for the tractor when I bought it five years ago!

There is a dairy farm auction coming up next month about 100 miles north of here, and the guy has a 4430 quad w_SGB and 9300 hrs (2K on the engine) It will be interesting to see what that brings. I will be real surprised if it brings more than $8K.

I was at that sale on Thursday, the 3020 brought just what it says. I got to the sale one hour after it started, I was bidder n753. The 9650 that sold went to Maryland. Two of the field cultivators wet to Canada. I visited with guys from Ohio, Missouri, Colorado and Oklahoma. Biggest non-consignment auction I have ever been to. It was advertized all over the Midwest. They had several internet bidders also.

I think it is all for show when people will spend that much money on a green tractor,to say that they spent that kind of money. That kind of money around here ,you could buy a older 70s era 4x4 tractor and still have something better than a 65 hp 3020.It is no wonder stuff is so out of this world when going to auction.People have more money than they have a brain.A 3020 is a small tractor, nothing fancy,so why would someone want to spend that kind of moneyIJ People go overboard around here on 4020s.

It's all perception of value; - and I agree, it doesn't make much sense. I'm sure there's some older Allis-Chalmers tractors that would fetch a fair dollar as well!

Perception of value, plus maybe looking at a comparable price of a new model, makes even the high priced used look reasonable.Plus going by the posted prices, all the machines must have been pretty top notch, and the owner probably had a reputation as an excellent caretaker.

Excellent point made, Big orange! In fact, my neighbor is currently running 3 older White tractors (2-180, 4-180 and 4-210) and has NO hesitation to put thousands of dollars into them every year; - it's STIll cheaper than payments on a newer one, plus the salvage yards are full of parts for these units. He's severely over-powered for his 700 acres but, as he says, when everything is working, alot of work gets done. Yet, if even 2 tractors are down (which has yet to happen) he's still okay. Worst case scenerio; - he would have to rent a tractor. Again, the dealerships are FUll of high horsepower used tractors.
