I found out the hyd. oil was heating too. Turns out the problem was a bad O-ring in the header control valve, which caused the oil to heat so much that funny things happened...like the header creeping up. But after putting an O-ring and poppet kit in the header control valve, the header would raise but not lower!!! After draining the hyd. oil the 3rd time and trying "everything" I discovered the metal plunger on the kit's replacement poppet was too short, preventing proper oil return from the header. (That is, the kit had the wrong part in it...so beware.) But all's well that ends well...at least until I get it back in the field to make sure everything works as it should.
