Combines TR 86 lights go out for no real

lA, Glad to hear you like your combine so far. It should do you good, sounds like your dealer is being good to you also. The lights going out is most likely a relay, I'm not sure which one it could be. I would start with the one by the seat, just switch it around with another and see if that works. There is a circut breaker by the engine and a hard one to get to in the bottom of the control panal in the cab. Do the easy ones first. Had a TR96 that was doing that, at first I just unhooked the light that went to the unload auger and they would stay on, then it took another on by the cab to unhook, so I fixed it then. I think it was the one back by the engine that was the problem. Good luck! Ilnh

The problem with your lights could simply be the light switch itself - seen that fail quite a few times. Also, note there are 2 service bullletins your dealer should be aware of that pertain to upgrades to the work light circuits on this combine. If there are any additional lights added to this combine than the problem is answered in the one bulletin for sure. The light switch has a 15 amp breaker inside of it that has a tendency to fail. Could also be a bad ground - does the combine monitor do funny things when the lights quitIJ

Thanks for the help...We did some of the things that you mentioned. We changed the switch, no results, checked the relays by the seat as you mentioned, no luck...We are working on the breakers at the back with the manual as I write this. When the lights did work, the readout for the engine speed would flicker really fast and then stop when the switch was pushed back in. We will ask about the NH bulletins tomorrow morning. We really apreciate all the help. lA.

lA, I hope you have your lights working Okay by now! I know some people put two or three lights on a different switch on some TR96's. For some reason the TR96_86 had problems with the lights. I think we put a bigger breaker on ours than it had, maybe 5 amp more it was. If you unhook one or two lights do they stay on for you thenIJ If they do then your breaker is week. Good luck! Ilnh

Hey Il, Thanks for the reply...It was a bad road lights breaker and we got them all working...Appreciate all the info_tech support...Does the small grain (peterson)chaffer make a big differenceIJ We got one with the machine. Can't wait until July_Aug for the season to start. This is an area I don't like to get into, but I could not care one bit about how many auctions there are for one brand versus the other. 2RR says he doesn't want to start a "color war" but I read the posts and that is exactly what it sounds like to me...People who can't manage money will go bankrupt REGARDlESS of the brand of gear. That is all I will say. lA.
