We broke ours on our TR-96 like that also. I think it was because we had the chain to tight. It seems that as the chain runs it gets tighter so keep it a little looser than you think it should be. We also broke the return auger two days later. I had just adjusted them before they broke. Our 96 had small shaft auger before they broke and we replaced with big shaft ones and did not adjust the chain as tight and had no more problems after that. Good luck!

We used to have a TR-96 and broke several clean grain and return augers, we would break at least one of each a year, we could not figure out what was wrong until the New Holland block man told us to run the elevator augers loose, after we started doing that we didn't break another one for the last five or six years we owned the machine. We now have a TR-98 and have had no trouble. What ever you do, do not over tighten the elevater chains!
