Mjay, I think your dealer is two updates behind. That Heavy double flighted auger was not the answer. It was not balanced for one thing. It soon shook everything loose. At this stage of the game you should be looking at an auger with double flighting on the bottom 12 inches or so. It must be balanced. There is a service bulletin that says another update is coming. I haven't seen it yet. I think the upcoming one is the 7th so far.Anyway the only trouble we have had with the present update is the stub hex shaft connecting the lower auger to the u-joint breaks where a pin goes thru it to keep it in place. If this happens put a solid hex shaft in and let it free float. weld a ring around the hex to keep it from falling down inside the lower auger.Good luck!

Thanks NHDon. The dealer read the service bulletin to me and it stated that these are balanced.( Weights welded in different areas). They are to have heat treated hex shafts as well.The ujoint assy. that came with has the hex shaft welded to the yoke. P.N. for the lower auger is 86625757, and upper is 86625771. I will try to find out if this is latest update or not.

NHDon. I had a better look at my lower auger where the hex shaft is attached. The holes where a pin would have went through is now welded over, so maybe this is the latest, Don't know. Thanks

NHDon, our TR is in town getting the latest update now, and yes the latest auger is double flighted but is a new lighter material and lET'S hope that the hex does not break after 20 hours

Ever thought of going back to the TR98 styleIJ No more u-joint to wear out.

We have a 1999 TR99 and replaced both bottom and top tubes, flighting, and u-joint in fall of 2002. In 2003 we replaced u-joint and upper and lower flighting. In 2004 there is a hole wore in the bottom tube already.Wish they would design something that would last more than two seasons. We harvest 2,400 acres of corn and soybeans each year.

Mjay, I think the pin is in there and the weld just keeps the pin in place. Anyway the hex shaft broke right inthe center of the hole.lots of comments about this problem.One additional thing we did was to do away with the big ring that is around the auger to keep it from throwing grain out of the grain tank. We have always had Maurer bin extensions on our TR's. They are higher so the grain can't fly out.Also the TR-98 bubbleup auger won't work. The elevator on the 99's is 3_4 inch wider tha earlier models.On the TR-98's and earlier models we put a vertical hdy. auger in the grain tank to take the load off the bubbleup mechanism and it allowed us t fill te grain tank evenly till it was full all the way around. That always worked great especially after they reversed the direction of the bubbleup so that it would take more grain.The vertical auger ran off the reel drive circuit.

Even though the TR99 clean grain elevator is wider, the TR98 setup will still fit up with hardly any modifications at all. I have done it. We don't see alot of bin extensions in our area, therefore the extra length is not an issue at all. TR98 style - all problems solved - fixed for good.
