Don, I haven't ever been around one running on a '99. Does it turn a lot faster than on a '97IJ Its hard to imagine a lot of vibration from it seeing as how it runs kinda slow and is pretty short in length. Is it bent, are the splines jumping at the gearbox, are the bolts loose that support it in the grain tank floorIJ I'm sure you have checked all these but that's all I can come up with in case you missed one. Wait a minute, is there a chance something is wedged on to the flighting somewhereIJ like a piece of wood or heavy plasticIJIJIJ Just a thoughtIJ Good luck with it! BTW you remember the thread we where involved with about MF 8780xp awhile backIJ Well I just got my motor back in my '97, spun a bearing on the n6 cylinder. The machine only has 1251hrs on it but, the original motor was completely replaced @ 82hrs with this motor I just rebuilt. It had a manufactoring defect that they didn't care to devulge much info about then. On the latest motor they couldn't find any real reason why it gave up, oil analysis came back okay except for the obvious aluminum and tin levels being high from the bearing itself. I was running it when it started knocking and the oil pressure was where it always had been on the gauge. I caught it pretty quick but it still hurt the crank some and it had to be built and reground. Been thinking about that 8780xp a lot lately as I'm scared New Holland's new rotor machine is going to be very complicated from what I can gather. You have any leads on a good MF dealer who sells and and has service knowledge on the 8780'sIJ Also, I will be looking to trade the '97 and 30ft 973 if I do a dealIJ Who knows this motor may last for ever but with the history on this machine it has me worried but, I guess the law of averages have got to be swinging my way nowIJlOl Thanks, JD
