Had a TR85 for years.Ran it in beans, corn, wheat for over 5000 hrs.Twin rotor design does an excellent job of threshing and you get a beautiful sample. It would be nice to find one that has had the rotors updated to the scubed ones(spiraled rasp bar configiration). There are really three types of TR85's out there depending on serial numbers. The early ones still had the small rotor gearboxes out of the tr 70's.These combines did not have the railing around the engine compartment. The middle ones had the railings and a lower mounted hydrostat pump right on the transmission. The latest ones had the hydro pump moved to the engine compartment, these ones were almost a TR86.

the 85 is not the biggest or most glamorous but it should run a long time, be easy to fix and cheap to buy we just went from an 85 to an 86, the 86 is a better machine in every way but also more money. you want an 85 with low drive header, hydro pump in front of engine ( avoids huge belts) and the s cubed rotors do make an enormous difference. you could get the performance of an 86 at the price of an 85 if you got the rotor kit.

Sorry..... I live in Italy I have 4 TR85 without hydro pump. I would like to mount the hydro pump in one of my TR 85. I havent seen a TR 85 with hydro pump because in Italy all the TR 85 are mechanics. I ask you if you can send me an e-mail where i can see the hydro pump mounted in front of engine. Thank you very much. my e-mail is daniele.casanova@olidata.it
