I'm by no means a New Holland expert, although I owned a TR86 several years ago. The TR88 is, quite simply, a smaller combine than your N6, and the TR88 is also a narrow body combine. If you compared your N6 to even a TR89 (wide body) you would be comparing on a more even playing field. I don't think I'd try an 8-row cornhead on a TR88; - a 6-row should be able to feed it well enough. In addition, nothing beats Gleaners accelerator rolls and cleaning system for sidehill combining, except perhaps New Hollands self-leveling grain pan which is on the TX's, CR's and CX's.

Hello John, The TR88 lists the 8R30 head as the biggest it should run. Some of the things to use for maximum capacity are round bar concaves, corn concave modules, 1 5_8" dual adjusting chaffer. If the combine is throwing grain out on sidehills, he may need to adjust the distribution panels to divert more grain towards the center of the grainpan and chaffer. I have only run the 90 series combines, but 3-4 mph with a 6 row head sounds slow for the TR88 from what I have been told they are capable of. Rod

I have been running NH since 1975. The TR with40 in shoe (including the TR 88) will overload in 180 bu corn with a 6 row. Even less with an 8row. Most of my problem was too much return. Be sure to do do kill stalls as the book describe. Keep the lower screen open as much as possible. I had varying success with the top- if you open too far it overloads the bottom and too close moves the grain too far back before it hits the bottom. The front part should be pretty well open. The TR 89 solves all this.
