I have a tr-85 with 2800 engine hours on it, and it has the 3208 cat. It is the best starting diesel engine we've had, it could be 5 degrees out and it still starts instantly with out either. it will use a quart of oil a day, but if you run it a quart low, it stops using oil. I guess it doesn,t like that extra quart. Over all I have never had a problem with the cat engine, good on power too.

You will like the NH. We ran a TR85 for 10 years with the 3208. like the other post said...never a problem starting. This was our first NH, and we traded up to a 96 this year (93 model). We like their reliability, clean samples, ease of servicing, and they are very well built. lots of heavy metal in the NH. Give it a try, you'll like it. Good luck to you.

Just an update. We ended up buying a reconditioned Tr95 with new roters and gear box as well as a brand new drop in 3208 cat engine. It has the s3 rotors and everything.

We made a switch to a TR 96 from Masseys in 1994. Since then we have upgraded to a TR 98. We just love the job the TR does in Barley and Canola. Also very good in Wheat. If the combined has been maintained properly it should give you years of high quality _ productive harvest capacity
