Biggest problem was the bubble-up gear box.Be sure it has the tappered gear box shaft and the speedup.Be sure augers are in reasonable shape. The Ford engine is a big help too.Rotor vibration, bent or broken front augers, rub bars and concave are easy to check out.Revitializing this combine would be very inexpensive compared to other machines.

junkman, I have a 1995 tr-97 4x4 with 1300 thresher hrs. comes with a 25' 973 head. getting out of the custom harvesting business due to lack of grain planted in the area because of low commodity prices. will take $45,000.00 for the machine. Excellent shape, always serviced by local dealer.

I am located in Waynesboro GA. The TR-97 has cut mostly wheat with almost no corn and very little soybeans. The rotors have 250hrs since installing all new wear parts. The concaves are excellent.
