Combines TR99 Belt trouble

If you are harvesting in conditions where there is tough, green stems on the product, you may have problems with the beater belt. If conditions are proper for harvesting (reasonably dry),the beater belt will last a long time. If the belt was too loose, it could have been slipping, causing heat, eventually leading to breakage. If the belt was to tight, the spring tensioner may not have been able to function properly, causing the belt to break. NOTE: Always ensure that the beater is fully unplugged before running the combine with the new belt, otherwise you will snap the new belt instantly.

Have you checked the clearance between the beater and the grateIJ It may need to be opened up a little. JD

I have had TR's sense 1977 and have never had to replace that belt. I did not think they ever broke. I have combined green straw beans also. Do you have the beater concave covered up all the wayIJ I run my concave up about 1_3 open. I see the new CR's have a spike tooth beater on them. I dont know why are how that will work.

I was reading my operators manual and I came across the beater. It talkes about covers for the beater grate. There is a big and small one. If you install both covers, the grate is totally covered up and it allows for easier through put.
