hi john. I can't talk about capacity difference between a 1688 and a 8570, we ran a 8560 (baby mf rotory) beside a 1666. Sample from the massey with the airfoil seive was cleaner. The capacity of the 8560 was 10-15% greater. The cab was quieter. We straight cut durum, sp wheat, barley, flax, pickup canola, peas. Just traded the 8560 on a 94 8570 with 700hrs, we're getting the hp jacked to 260 and putting our airfoil in it. We're hoping to be able to run with just one machine.

Hello there well from the experience I have had this past summer I dont believe you will gain anything on the 1688. I will admit at one time I thought the Caseih combine one the simplist one out there till I ran into the 8570. it has lots of very good and silple features on it. The rotor in the 1688 is 30" in diamater and the 8570 I believe is 27" rotor. The 1688 will have more power and a bigger sieve area, and also a greater resale value. I guess if the price is right it doesnt really matter what brand your running as long as you take pride any combine will do you a good job...
