Combines Traded 2366 for 2388

If you have 30.5's dished in, the outside of the tire will be running down the center of the gap. This will put the lugs very close to the ears of the standing corn. The ladder would need to be flipped up everytime you get in the cab. With the tires dished in, there is very little clearance for mud and changing concaves can be pretty difficult I'm told (I never tried it). If you can swing an 8 row, you'll like that a lot better. If you have to run the 6 row one year, it will work, just not as convienent.

we ran a 6row on a 2388 over many acres before we got the 8 row you do not have to do anything and the ladder can stay

I run a 1688 with 30.5's and 6-30. I don't have any trouble running into the unshelled rows and I think it's the same diminsions as 2388. It seems to me that it does a better job if you keep the rotor full and that is running 6mph in 175 bu corn. So in my opinion it's a trade-off combining your planted rows or spending money on a 8-30. CW

Does your ladder swing around to the front like a 2188IJ I thought that feature was taken off the 2388'sIJ 6-30 seems like a really tight fit to me, but I'll defer to you guys that have tried it. I guess you just move the ladder all the way in when the tires are flippedIJ

With dished out 30.5's, I think that puts the outside of the tire running 8" from the center of the next row of corn. I can't see how the ladder keeps from knocking the next row downIJ

I've run a 6-30 head with 30.5 tires on a 1480, 1688, 2188, and several 2388's for many, many years. I have never dished in the wheels and there is lOTS of clearance between the tire and the next standing row. Unless the corn is not standing straight you won't have to fold the ladder. You don't need to worry about keeping the machine really full. I've never had a problem that way and the 2388 is even better. The new 2377's are the same combine with less horsepower so many of them will be used with 6-30 heads. They certainly won't be as full as a 2388.

Whoops! I got a little mixed up and was calculating the middle of the tire as the outside of the tire. When you run the 30.5's dished out you have 24" of clearance between the outside of the tire and the midddle of the next row. With factory duals, the outside of the outer tire runs right beside the next row. That was what I was thinking about and then got mixed up. Sorry about that.
