If your transmission isn't jumping out of gear or making any particularly horrible noises, I'd just run it. The "sand" in the bottom of the case is usually caused by grinding into gear over the years. It is a small transmission, but usually dependable. If you need to work on it, consider getting one from the salvage yard. They're pretty cheap. Make sure your air filter is kept clean. Theses motors had a habit of using a little oil when they couldn't breathe. I think you'll find that fixing that leaky front seal will really cut down on your oil consumption, too. The 760 is a great combine, and you'll be pleasantly surprised how well and how cheaply you can harvest just about any crop. New paint is a wonderful thing, but it is an addiction, and an expensive addiction at that. Good luck!
