Combines trash buildup in clean grain pan

Make sure the "choke" above the cleaning fan is clear up (open),you might have a linkage problem not getting it all the way up against the stops. Also you might power wash the cleaning fan blades on the inside of the curve to each blade or clean with emery cloth--I know you think I'm nuts, but these blades HAVE to be clean or they will not blow air!!!!!Over the last 25 yrs I have power washed out a dozen or so fan blades that got oil, diesel fuel corn stalk juice, etc on them which made the blades get dirty and not work. The unbelieving customers eyes get real big when you come in from the field not working and spend an hr power washing and go right back to the field and have to turn DOWN the fan because of too much air!!! Also a slipping fan drive belt is not good and engine high idle should be up to max---DO NOT trust the tachometer in cab, I have found some that are way off.

If you are not blowing corn out when set on 7 then you have a fan problem. How wide is your chaffer openIJ If you have the long finger 1_2" to 5_8" should be plenty.

My tach has mice damage and doesn't work any more, I got out with everything running and there is a steady stream of stuff coming out the back, dust etc. I have the standard chaffer and sieve as it is not a "special" machine for corn_ and soys like most are around here. I may power wash the fan and see what happens, I have been running it on 6 and 7 and see no real amount of corn on the ground. I'll also check the drive as well. It takes three to four bin fuls to get it cluttered up under there but it sure is cluttered, still does a good job on the corn, I just would like to get this problem fixed.

I have seen some of what you are saying. I do not know to what extent yours is. Could it be sucking enough dry husks etc. through the caged area, because of stalk leaves being brittle,dead etc.IJ I have had silks, leaves, etc in there but not to where it affected flow. Have you checked all around caged area for openingsIJ If it is extremely dry where you are I suspect it is drawing more in all orifices than normal. my 2 cents

I think this is exactly what is happening with my machine. It has very good wind flow through the machine it HAS to be pulling husks etc. and blowing them through the shaker from front to back, they get to the rear and start to bunch up. The caged area has a few openings I might tape up tonight and see what happens, I am convinced this is the problem, thanks for the help all!

One other thought why are you running on 7IJ If you would back the setting down to 3 what would happenIJ I have a F2 that I have never ran any higher than 3 for corn. The higher the air flow you need to supply the fan will pull more trash into the air inlet or any gaps in the inlet.

I'll try that next time I shell some corn, I will try to plug off the openings tonight, I have another minor repair to make on it anyways. I appreciate the help, thanks, Nick
