Combines triangle filler

Delivered seed to a farmer in Hannibal Mo. who had that very experience.Wrecked the cage and at that time they were fighting with dealer or AGCO over who was paying for that.Was 5 series machine damaged fall '05.It HAS happened.Gurus here say make sure its welded in good so that can't happen.

first run of field installed kits had some questionable hardware issures. All kits were then checked. Havn't heard of factory ones coming out. We had one come out of a R62. 2 yrs ago I think.

Had 1 come out of a 2005 R-65. It was not welded in. It was factory installed.

This is something that isnt a huge failure but at the same time it is something that does happen from time to time. Just be sure to be informed of what the filler is, where its located, and check it from time to time to make sure its properly secured in place. Yes I have seen cages where they got away and they will pretty much destroy your cage. A chuck of metal of its size will not go through you processor gracefully. It reaks havic on it.

We bolted and welded ours in and it came out in some green stem beans. Only a ding in the cage, but bent a rotor bar. Good excuse to put in the CDF, but we left the triangle out. I couldn't tell any difference when we added it. I wouldn't do it again.

Gleaner has these as integral part of cage in '07. Prior bolted in ones could have to long or too short of hardware. '96 and prior machine have bolt go all the way threw cage sections with nut so they likely allways got tight. '97 and newer machines had adjustable seperator grate so they have blind tapped hole for hardware. To be safe on '97 and newer machines you could remove hardware to be sure you have between 3_8" to 1_2" thread engagement. Also don't make the mistake of only using a regular allan wrench to tighten. Best to use allen head socket to be sure it is tight. Very good idea to weld in front surface for extra security. Better idea yet is to replace with loewen for it does not block flow up feeder at all. It is a match of what we allways did and we have never lost one. Cage needs to be drilled for third hole in helical and that eliminates need to weld in. Still it don't hurt to weld in which we do after hearing of a few of Gleaners coming out. A couple things we do to loewen is press helical a little straighter for better fit up and cut excess threads from middle helical bolt.
