Combines Trying to lower blood pressure

I have a stock 62 with a 8 row.My advice is in 130 bushel corn kick the speed up to 5 mph open the concave to 12 and slow speed to 190,the sample will be a lot cleaner.The chrome is very abrasive till it gets worn in.You will have more rotor noise with reverse bars in,but at 3 mph you're not even slightly loading that machine.

What is limiting your ground speedIJ With that machine in that crop, you should be able to absolutely fly, to the point that you're limited by the maximum speed of the corn head. Something sounds wrong. I would try filling the machine by driving it faster, and if that doesn't help, give things a closer look. Make sure it has been set up properly, as it sounds like dealer isn't very experienced. There should be 4 reverse bars on rotor; 2 in last row and 2 in second to last row. The chrome rasp bars and rough concaves are what is giving you the crackage. It is best to run beans through a new Gleaner first to get the roughness worn down. So that will go away. You mentioned taking out half the bars. Many times this seems to help the cob situation so I would definitely try it.

I assume it has high wide wire thresher concaves and seperator grate. Make sure if it has chopper to put it on slow with knifes retracted. Get rid of reverse bars and leave blank and give that a try. At lease install bolts back in blank holes. Get Gleaner service rep out there along with dealer and have them call one of us dealers if needed. We normally run with cylinder slowed all the way and then touch up a bit 210RPM. Some varietys will sale threw machine without making a peep and the next will be a bit noisy. At any rate you shouldn't be limited by anything other then corn head speed in them conditions with that setup. You've read hear that some operators have custumized there machines even more for them crops but you should be good to go with what that machine allready has. Good luck

I can't go over 3 mph, the alarm for the engine speed and everything goes off. The rpms then drop below 2100. This is a brand new combine!!!

Just a thought,someone didn't set that machine up with reverse bars on the threshing end,that would probably take gobs of power.

has cummins upgraded injecrion pump to latest specsIJbackup torque on early engine comes on after alarm sounds.would not maintain rated speed. AGCO service knows about this.

I had a very similar problems when new chrome barw were installed. The combine was new to me and I kept following advice from my local dealer and "experts". I had horrible grain samples, broken cobs, and not enough power. As it turned out all I had to do was open the concave to 12 or more depending on the cob size and slow the cylinder speed down. After this change every kernal was perfect and cobs were coming out hole and not overloading my machine.
