I question why they had them in the 16xx series but didn't put them in the 21xx series. Don't have much trouble with the 2188 but is sure nice in the 1680 to tell at a glance how loaded you are. Was thinking of putting one in the 2188 and was going to ask here if anyone has done it.

We run one in a 2188. Just went to the hardware store and got a quality 30 psi guage. You will also need the smallest copper tubing they sell, compression fittings, and an 1_8" NPT male pipe fitting. An easy way to hook it up is in place of the starting fluid injector. Technically it will not work as well in a 2188 because the wastegate will max out in boost pressure before the rack maxes out in fuel. However, we find it very useful and use it constantly. It reacts instantly to increases in HP output, as long as you are not already over the wastegate pressure setting.

What kind of boost psi and rpm are you seeing with your 2188IJ Do you know what psi the wastegate starts to bypass the turboIJ Thanks

The spec on a 2188 is 19 psi of boost. It is probably ok to run a little bit more. We had a turbo go out last year and put on a reman unit and the wastegate on it was set to 24-25 psi which is a bit high. Typically you see 19-23 psi.
