I ran across some pretty exciting news that I thought you all might be interested in learning about.

A new research study shows how barley can be turned into carbon for heating homes. This means that all the barley breweries regularly dispose of after making beer may be able to be used, reducing the amount of barley disposed of in landfills.

The researchers show that potassium hydroxide and phosphoric acid are the only two chemicals needed to turn barley into carbon. The process the researchers created is environmentally friendly, and they are currently exploring how the process can be used commercially.

Less waste in our landfills would be a great thing! I can't wait to see what develops from this new research.

That is so cool! Anything we can do to help the planet will help future generations. I love finding new uses for things, and I'm very impressed that these researchers have figured out how to turn barley into carbon.
