Combines Twin Rotor capacity

I have owned and used about all of the models of TR combines. The rotors are the same in a TR-99 as they were in the first TR-70'sSo the rotors have plenty of capacity. Seperating and cleaning is another mtteras you put more material thru the rotors you need more cleaning and seperating capacity. The clean grain elevating capacity has been a problem. The TR-99 has a 3_4 inch widerclean grain elevator and an improved bubbleup auger system. The 17 inch twin rotors are the best ideain the market today. The centrifical force that throws the grain to the outside of the concaves is the best way to end up with high quality, low damage grain. The TR-99 has plenty of capacity for a 12 row corn head. It has ample horsepower too! The clean grain elevating system can handle about 2500 bu. per hour too. So have plenty of trucks available.

I was knew thats what someone would say. I wanted to see a 12 corn head on a TR at the farm progress show last year but they only had an eight row. I guess they didn't want to embarass the cat and deere combines that cost over $100,000 more and don't have that much more capacity.

Well, I wouldn't bother with investing in a 12 row corn head. they are a pain in the butt to get around with. They are heavy, clumsey, and expensive.Buy an 8 row and just drive faster. I can easily drive fast enough to get up to the clean grain elevating capacity. I see these guys with 12 row heads going about 3 mph and having to dump about every120 rods. What a mess! My son wants me to drive slower so it can chew up the stalks better, I hate to, but he no-tills so I guess he has a point. I hope to have a new corn head some of these years We'll get he rollers that che up the stalks good. like a pixal roll.

NHDon, I use to think exactly like what you said, until this year. We traded our 8-30 for a 12-30. Dad wanted it and I wasn't so sure about it,(So you know who is the real boss haha) But anyway I know there is not any way to keep up with a 12-30 compared to a 8-30 even if you drive faster. When we had the 8 I would drive 4.8 to 5.0 and now I drive 3.5 to 4 with the 12. And what I notice is alot less ear loss driving at the lower speed at the head because I run the head slower. I was concerned with the added weight too. We just got 7.5 inches of rain over the weekend and was shelling corn yesterday and today. I run 18.4 x42 radial plain tread duals and going along alright. And what you said about the dumping,I can make a round in 1_4 mile throughs with the corn making 165 to 170 with a 330 bu. hopper. I'm not saying your wrong or nothing ,but I thought like you until I used a 12 row and now I would never go back to an 8 row. Saves alot of hours on the machine and Alot easier to hold on the row in mud at 3.5 rather then 5 Just my thoughts have a safe harvest Illinois Gleaner

If you want to see 12 rows go to Husker Harvest days in Grand Island. All the combines ran 12's except Massey.
