the cheapest thing to try is to stake the shaft with a punch a bunch of times and put loctite on the shaft and then tighten it down. if the pulley is walking outwards, simply take the outer pulley off the shaft and slide a piece of pipe over the intermediate shaft. cut the pipe to the exact length between the drive pulley and the shoe drive pulley. put the outside pulley back on. now that pulley can't move. if it is walking to the inside, do the same but on the inside, but remember that the pipe has to but up against the bearing, not the holder.

Never heard of that one we run about 50 newhollands and none of them have had that problem it is the header drive shaft at the bottom of the straw elevator and not the chaff spreader pto

Yes,this is a common problem on the tx combines! From our 93 tx36,to our 98's,we've had them slide towards shield. You can solve the problem by removing the two capscrews and replacing them with a standard grade 8 fine thread bolt. The fine thread bolt has more holding power.locktite will ensure that it will stay tight. You'd think New Holland would have fixed this problem by now.
