Combines Ugly conditions performance

A couple of weeks ago we were speculating at what temperature N_R series machines would not handle snow. I recall 25F 35F was the range l_M series would plug but havent had to run the R60 in snow---yet. Is the engine warming sieves or is the continuous tumbling in the processor causing snow to melt before it hits the shoeIJ Again, I have no firsthand experience and dont want to acquire any. Tom, The engine seems to warm the floor_top of the shoe roof. At about 24 degrees and warmer the roof gets ice on it that falls off in chunks onto the chaffer as temp increases. I would keep machine running while unloading to keep everything as cold as possible. I think the processor is warmer at the left side from all the energy spent threshing and seperating on the way through. When running above freezing without snow, We and others in our area also had probs with dirt in machines as we were running header points on the ground picking up down corn. Clean grain elevator boot needs regular cleaning and the lower sieve can be filled with dirt. We have learned way more about tough corn harvest than would ever want to. I did over half my corn at 45 degree angle to rows with 22 inch head. That got corn better at much faster harvest pace. All that down corn was from what was the leading corn seed company. Done with that.

That leading seed company has had many stand ability problems in this area too. The slightest breeze at the wrong time causes their corn to fall over.

Talking about seed brands is almost like talking about religion. Just look at what is going on in the thread above this one. Consumers and especially farmer consumers become extremely colorblind when it comes to talking about brand names.

Well, some guys it's religion, some it's seed corn or machinery, and some it's politics. I guess we all have our thing that we get uptight about! Tom langan
